Nick Nicholson

I would like to share some very sad news regarding my father Nick Nicholson with other readers. Nick died on December 23rd 2020 at home in Southampton, UK at the grand old age of 99.

After starting on flying boats at Hythe and then BOAC, he had spent most of his working life in Africa working first with West African Airways Corporation in Lagos, then Ghana Airways in Accra (his employee number was 12), Central African Airways in Salisbury as it was known then. He also worked for a time with the Federal Flight Unit in Lagos during the late sixties before running a pub in the UK.

However, he was enticed back to aviation starting at EAA in 1974 working in engineering. He stayed on during the formation of Kenya Airways in 1977 until his retirement in 1991. He lived just off the Ngong road near the Royal Nairobi golf club where he enjoyed his golf. He had an incredible life in Africa and he loved his time in Kenya with EAA being at the top of the list.
