Brings back allot of memories. I flew for EAA from 69 to 72 operating F27s and VC10s. Without a doubt my happiest times in aviation.
Found this site in a roundabout way and this is a post to anybody who knew him, we all wonder what happened to so and so, my father inlaw was Patrick Jolley who worked for EAA and he passed away 19/10/2011 in Spain where he had retired to, his wife Pamela is still alive and living in the UK.
Flew Nairobi Zurich London, 1976 I think, on the vc10 as a 7 year old, got to sit in the pilots seat over Egypt. Most people got off at Zurich , the pilot then asked if any of the remaining passengers objected to a real take off. This then resulted in absolutely flooring it down the runway and as near to a vertical take off you could have in a passenger aircraft. Thanks EAA, brilliant memories, and a great website.
Worked in Flight Operations at Embakasi 1960-1971
It was just GREAT to meet so many rafikis, some after almost years.
Fabulous EAA Reunion at LHR on July 26th 2014.
Congratulations to the organisers!!!

Hello,
I got my hands on a rather large steel model of EAA F-27 many years ago in my youth. Would you like me to send you a photo?
Greetings from Ron in Waterloo, Ontario
I would like to follow your website.
We have just had an EAA reunion in London and it was great to catch up with people that I hadn't seen for about 35 to 40 years.
There will probably be another one in 2 years time and I know that everyone is welcome.
The contacts are Jerry Sirley or Eric Molberg.
It was a good 'Do' and very well organised.

Great memories, keep it up.
I joined EAA in July 1975 as an Airframe/Engine Inspector in the Hangar on the DC-9 & Super VC-10 fleet. I was there at the end in March 1977 when I returned to the UK. 37 years later I am working on 5H-MOG again at Dunsfold in Surrey, UK as a volunteer for Brooklands Museum looking after the aircraft. I have run the engines a few times now and taxied the aircraft on 19.08.14 along the Dunsfold runway three times. The aircraft is in RAF livery as ZA150, retiring from the RAF last September, 2013.
Great to see these memories of a wonderful past.
I flew for EAA from 1961 to 1973 starting on DC3's and finishing as Captain on the VC10. I really enjoyed my years with EAA.
Greetings to all ex colleagues.
And compliments to the compilers of the marvellous u-tube of the 2014 reunion.
Everyone looking very good and the music....!
Kindest regards

wow
Seconded from the RAF to BOAC along with five other pilots from Kenya my Dad flew out one of the first six Dragon Rapides to Nairobi. I was born the same year scheduled services started. He flew these, Doves, Lodestars and DC3's before leaving to Sabena in the Congo. I did my interview, and a short flight in a DC3 with Capt Eddie Parker in early1974, but due to a decision to hire only indigenous citizens, entry was delayed a year. I flew the same DC3's as dad, checked out by Eddie who had flown with Dad as a radio operator. Saw the second retirement of the DC3's and had just been posted to the VC10 fleet and doing training when the Airline ceased operations. Best flying club in the world.
This is a great effort to connect old buddies. Few would disregard the great memories of Nairobi's Night Club life of Halians, Club 1900, Topaz Grill, Sahara, etc. or Mombasa's Sunshine or Mermaid! After all what would teenagers spend their money on in the early to mid 1970's.
I flew with EAA in 1975 from Nairobi to London
My father, Capt. W.M. (Andy) Anderson joined EAA immediately after WWII in 1946 and flew Rapides. He left EAA in 1951 to join Noon & Pearce Flying Charters and then joined Hunting Clan in the UK and afterwards Sudan Airways.
He rejoined EAA in 1960, flying Daks & the new F27s. He retired from EAA in 1964 after a stroke.
I have a soft spot for EAA as my very first flight was with my Dad in an EAA Rapide from Wilson Airport.
All my loveliest memories that I now recollect were when I was getting ready to either fly to Nairobi back to the Prince of Wales school that I attended or getting ready to fly back home to Kampala with the fabulous East African Airlines where my Dad was always waiting for me at the airport.
My nicest air hostess was Sheila Kritikos....wonder where she is now....
Joined EAA after AST Perth to fly the great Dak in Jan 1975. Loved and enjoyed every bit of the short period that I worked there. It was full of fun too.
It was a great and bright idea to establish this site it brings back those sweet memories of the 70's
Hope to be connected to our old buddies. Looking forward to the re-union day
